Who gets the best results
- Naturally yellow or cream-coloured teeth respond best. Yellow pigment bleaches most readily.
- Extrinsic stains — from tea, coffee, or smoking — respond very well.
- Intrinsic discolouration (inside the tooth, from medications like tetracycline, or from trauma) is much harder to treat with whitening alone. Veneers may be a better option.
Who might not be a good candidate
- Heavily restored teeth (crowns, veneers, composite fillings) — restorations don't whiten, so you may end up with uneven colour.
